Sometimes the most precious decor ideas start with one simple piece. You may find that piece at a store, online, at a friend's home, family, thrift shop, flea markets, and more. Once you find that one object, you can envision the complete room done in that design. For example, if you find a small terra cotta pot with Indian design, you may want to decorate your entire room with Native American decor or even southwestern. Put your pot of stew in the middle of the blanket with bowls and spoons around the pot of stew. Put your drinks in glasses with a lid. Make a pan of cornbread, cut into squares and place on a plate. Invite your family in for dinner. Enjoy sitting around the fire and enjoying a family meal together. You might just make this a tradition for those cold winter nights.

Purchase a fire detector as well. Keep one on every level of your home and take the time to learn how to properly use a fire extinguisher. Demonstrate for everyone in your family how to use a fire extinguisher. Even though you can never totally prevent a fire, you can take steps to make sure you family has the best chance of survival.
